ELECTION EXCITEMENT -
WOMEN WORLD LEADERS OF NOTE
Living in a global community means encouraging the empowerment of all nations. Seeing a woman running for president is monumental to witness. Tomorrow’s election signifies a new step forward for not only American’s but all people. Despite our information age we do not hear very much about the women who donate their lives to service. In university, I majored in political science for a year. This was long enough to observe the up hill battle women have with in public administration. It was also long enough for my impatient younger self to note that change in this area takes along time.
In the late 90’s, it was as if time was slowly moving through an hour glass. Progressive changes seemed like a far off hazy dream for the future. Upon going into political science, people often why would I want to study the science of politics. I was interested in the science of the political “animal”. How it functioned was of great interest to me, in my own personal quest for peace making. At that time, Hilary Clinton was continuous in her political endeavours. Today as she campaigns on the protection of reproductive rights and debt free education she brings a strong caring component to American and by extension world politics.
Since 2000, through much “blood, sweat and tears” the women described below have all conquered ridicule and discouragement to achieve the opportunity to make impactful systemic. It is also especially inspirational to hear Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau echo his father Pierre Elliot Trudeau's (a former Prime Minister) support for feminism, women's rights and equality today in 2016. Here is some little known information highlighting accomplishment that is meant to inform and further inspire you.
Kamla Persad - Bissessar
Trinidad’s first female Prime Minister, served for two terms. She brought in much needed highways, founded a children’s hospital and also a university in the southern part of the country.
She had served as the country’s Education Minister. During her time as PM she made it possible for a new lap top to be given to each child writing the country’s common entrance exam to gain entry into high school.
This generous gesture made it possible for many children to gain otherwise unavailable computer access. This innovate change for all was a deeply illustrative example of the caring and thought filled policy needed to change our world.
Portia Simpson Miller
Jamaica’s first female Prime Minister also served for two terms. She has a background in social services. She brought in the decriminalization of marijauna in small quantities. While this may seem controversial, this can lead to more societal cohesiveness helping to eliminate the oppressive corruption that previously surrounded that issue.
At the time of this writing we don’t know who the next president of United States will be. It is exciting to think that it could be the American female president in the history of the world. That is something to celebrate! It is exciting to think of the inspiration and mentorship possible that Hilary can possibly provide. Continuing to extend the care brought in by the Obama government would be the best practical continuous choice keep the process of their new programs in place like Obama Care. Tonight it is a hope but tomorrow it could be the dawn of new possibility.
