I spent Sunday afternoon at the first of Maria Vamvalis & Andrea Mathieson's new series of Women's Circles. The theme is: Protecting the Sacred Well — Restoring Wholeness in Our Aching World.
Protecting the Sacred Well provides a sacred space for women to feel supported as they consciously tend the sacred feminine, within their personal lives and in the larger world. Each time we gather we call the well into being, mirror each other as a sacred sisterhood, and deepen into our diverse and shared purposes in these challenging times. Protecting the Sacred Well contributes to the soulful preparedness of women warriors to meet adversity with integrity. In the circle we meet and recognize each other, call forth what needs protection (both within ourselves and the world) and participate in many forms of ritual.
On Maria's blog, Remembering The Ancient Deer, she describes how these circles came into being in detail. She describes her writing this way, "My writing explores my engagement with an emerging and evolving consciousness in modern times. I understand this consciousness (also known as "the feminine") as a powerful force which innovates and transforms our culture and ourselves at the deepest levels, and invites the valuation of wholeness back into our lives, into our systems, and into our relationship with the planet."
It was lovely to be in her presenece along with Andrea, and the other women who attended. A quiet meditative afternoon of soul searching with like minded people is one way to allow for new things to come through.
